On 27 August 2020, Ricardo Dacosta and Irene Martín (University Autonoma de Madrid RePAST Team) participated in the ECPR General Conference. In the panel, which gathered scholars who are experts on transitional justice and human rights, they presented a paper entitled “The Changing Dynamics of Parliamentary Debates on Historical Memory in Spain 2004-2020”. In the paper they try to find out whether international justice considerations have become increasingly present, and if the appearance of new parties has led to changes in the discourses of traditional political parties. For doing so, the authors analyzed the transcripts of the Spanish Congress debates, from 2004 to 2019, that refer to legislative initiatives concerning the civil war and dictatorship.
